Holiday Tips + Hâut = A Fashionista Finish!
Hâut’s custom-blended palette of fashion shades and classic colours that never date offer both edgy and elegant options to satisfy either the Gwen Stephani or Grace Kelly within! With strong ties to the fashion industry and beauty experts on staff, Hâut is a step ahead in being able to cater to the fashion diva in us all!
As Hâut makeup is so concentrated, build up the colour lightly in 'layers' for the effect you want - subtle or dramatic. Hâu t mineral makeup products are multi-tasking. No primers, separate concealers or setting powders are needed to give a flawless finish, so why buy inferior products needing additional 'back-up' products like these?
A Word about Buffing... when brands suggest you polish or buff the product over and into the skin, it's either inferior quality or it contains Bismuth Oxychloride! This by-product of lead is heavy on skin and has to be rubbed (or pushed) into pores to stay put. It will still need touching up later. A known irritant, it counteracts the soothing properties of zinc while blocking the skin. Even without bismuth, a quality mineral makeup should apply quickly without rubbing, which aggravates the inflammation of acne and rosacea, and irritates vulnerable skin following treatments such as peels!

No matter what your colouring, our custom-blended mineral pigments create a flawless foundation!
Creating a makeup Masterpiece...
Remember to make sure your moisturizer has completely absorbed before applying makeup to avoid it 'sticking' or looking blotchy.* Apply with a kabuki brush, swirling it quickly into powder to pick up small amount and tap the brush back down. This removes the excess while pushing powder into the bristles. Blot and press lightly all over face, blending and smoothing out along hair and jaw line. Unlike regular makeup, there will be no line where your makeup stops!

Prefer a custom liquid foundation? Mix the concentrated powder gradually with some moisturiser to desired colour depth and a more opaque coverage. (mix & store in a small lidded jar.) We love the way organic moisturisers blend with our powders!
-
To create a liquid foundation finish spritz your face with a water spray (or for a real treat with Hâut's new Tone & Tighten Mist, bursting with organic ingredients!)
-
Light or full coverage? Just one 'layer' of powder creates a perfect finish for some of us! Or keep adding layers for total coverage. Apply densely with a fine brush where you would otherwise use a concealer.
-
Mix a tiny bit of foundation powder with a drop of jojoba or rosehip oil using a fine brush to make a high-coverage concealer over dry or flakey areas. Feather it at the edges to blend it in.
-
Still blotchy? Your moisturizer may be too heavy, and absorbing unevenly. Consider swapping to a lighter textured but more nutrient rich all natural one (our Organic Coconut Cream Primer doubles as a moisturizer). Also, your brush may not be dense enough or need washing.
-
Look a little powdery? Hâut has no synthetic oils added, but after a few minutes the minerals merge with your own skin oils to give the foundation a more natural finish.
+ eyes

Eye makeup that is too heavy and aggressive defeats the purpose. Start with the right eyeshadow primer. I have created the 'Shea Butter Eye Brightening Quad' as a primer, highlighter, and camouflage all in one. Start with the beige tone all over the eye and use the other three tones to correct and highlight. Yellow is best used to highlight the brow bone, white to highlight the inner corners and mobile part of lid. The pink and beige tones are wonderful for camouflaging undereye darkness. The blend of natural oils smooths fine lines.
To emphasize them the key is blending and smudging your shadows to create a soft, wide-eyed effect. The more harsh the line, the smaller your eyes will appear. Even more important, to keep attention away from darkness, fine lines, or puffiness under the eyes it is important to steer clear of mascara and liner on the bottom lashes. If you want to create a soft, smokey look, keep liner on the waterline (just above bottom lashes) to emphasize the almond shape of the eye. It has a beautiful effect.
Be sure to concentrate the eyeliner from the middle of the upper lashine to the outer corner. Always blend slightly upward and out at the outer corners of the eye to give a subtle lift. Natural makeup is more creamy than powdery and minerals are the only way to achieve this glowy look naturally.
For a bit of *holiday twinkle*, apply a spot of shimmer in one area of the eyelid (try middle, just above the upper lashline). This can be worn by anyone! Just avoid shimmer from lashline to browbone, it is too much unless the rest of the face is kept mostly bare. For a lush framing of the eyes, try some false lashes! There are many to choose from and some of new ones have adhesive already on the lash! Finally =)!
It helps to keep the brows strong when emphasizing the eyes. A brow wax or powder is less harsh and longer lasting than a pencil.
