Being a parent to a Diabetic little boy is hard to put into words. When we first found out, I had to stay in the hospital for three days and learn as much as I could about my son's new reality. At the end of the three days I was given a lot of supplies including a glucose tester and a bunch of needles and told it was now mine and my husband's job to keep our son alive. At first my husband and I felt like we were failing my son with every 'off' glucose number we had but were quickly clued in that with a little 2 year old, our numbers were not always going to be perfect and all we could do was try our best. Well, its been over a year since his diagnosis and although our numbers still aren't perfect we are glad to say they are getting better everyday. Jack has definitely become one of the strongest little boys I know, he checks himself 5-6 times a day. He gets 5-6 injections through out the day and he never complains or cries. We still have daily challenges and our worries for our son having this disease will never go away but we as a family will take each challenge one day at a time. One thing that did come from all this for me was photography. I had recently bought a nice camera before we found out about Jack's Diabetes. It was just a hobby for me and I enjoyed it a lot. Once Jack was diagnosed I was on a local mom swap/buy page asking to be connected with any other moms with type 1 children and many people pointed me in the direction of my now very good friend. She is a professional photographer with amazing talent and I was very fortunate to be able to take her Moms With Cameras class to better my knowledge of photography. It is something I have come to have a large passion and a lot of love for, I still have so much to learn but Photography is something I can go to when I need find the beauty that is surrounding me just for a few minutes. I love capturing people as they are or an object how it is. photography has brought happiness to my life and I think to my family's life as well. I take pride knowing that when my children are older I will have all these special and real images to show them of their lives and that to me is something special.
FACE: I prepped my skin with 73% ORGANIC COCONUT CREAM which is a moisturizer and primer in one. I applied MACADAMIA BB CREAM with A FRESH START BRUSH and MACADAMIA LOOSE MINERAL FOUNDATION I applied over with PLUSH KABUKI BRUSH. I first applied PINK SHEA BRIGHTENER any where I needed brightening around eyes. MACADAMIA CONCEALER was applied on eyes and anywhere extra coverage was needed, concentrating on inside of face to brighten and lift. ILLUMINATING LOOSE TINT was applied with WORK IT OUT BRUSH all around perimeter of face and MAUVE MAGIC LOOSE TINT + MAUVE ALOE TINT CREAM BLUSH were applied to apples of cheeks. Blend in a circular motion and smile a little to ensure both are applied to fullest part of cheeks and above.
EYES: MINK BROW TINT is the perfect shade for filling in my brows quickly. DEFINING MOMENT BRUSH or for thicker, dramatic brows THE EYES HAVE IT BRUSHES are the best tools. Primer on and under the eyes was PINK SHEA BRIGHTENER with a little of the WHITE SHEA BRIGHTENER to accent brow bone and clean up the brow area with NEED A LIFT BRUSH for precision. A mix of MINK & VINTAGE ALOE CREAM TINTS were applied from lashes to crease and concentrated around crease by lightly tracing the eye socket with finger. I curled my lashes with Shu Uemura curler and apply a quick coat of mascara to top and bottom lashes.
LIPS: I applied HARLEQUIN LIP BUTTER with finger with BARBIE LIP GLOSS over top.
I know, it is not grad time yet. However, by this time a lot of girls have their dresses chosen and they may even be hanging in their closet already. This is a great time to make the switch to more natural products to give your delicate skin a chance to breathe and get that natural glow and balance. If your skin is in balance you have one less thing to worry about. You may already have decided if you want to wear your hair up or down and how you would like your makeup to look for your special day. It is handy to have tear-outs from magazines for your stylist and makeup artist to reference. They will have a better idea of what you want that way and good communication will produce the best results. If you are wanting pink lip gloss you have to go further than that. What shade of pink? I strongly suggest you do a trial session with both your hair stylist and makeup artist. Also, make sure you are clear on what the price is for your consultation and session the day of your grad. It will ensure a lot less stress on your big day. It is wise to make sure that if you are not using your own makeup, you are not going to have products used on your skin that contain ingredients you are allergic to. Same goes for hair products! There are a lot more people who react to a variety of ingredients, even natural ones. I highly recommend 'lashing out' with some false lashes. Your eyes will really pop in pictures! Try a few different kinds on to see which may look best with your eye shape and make sure they are comfortable to wear for the day. If you have any questions about choosing the right products for your skin type please send us an email! We are happy to help (makeupartists@hautminerals.com). It is important to have quality ingredients on your skin and the right textures as you need your look to last into the night with minimal maintenance. Talc has a pinky, chalky tone and if worn long term it stretches the walls of your pores. There are a lot of products out there that are not only natural and vegan, they are very water-resistant, heat-resistant, and long wearing. The most important part is that you have fun with your look. I know a lot of clients who are quite the makeup artists themselves. If you want to save a little money you can get your hair done professionally and then do your makeup yourself. If you are your own artist you can do a few practice runs. There are lashes that you can buy with adhesive already on them. It saves time but again, you must practice, practice, practice! If you are not sure where to start with your makeup routine, that is what we are here for. We recommend the BB cream and loose minerals before anything else to get your largest organ, your skin in tip top shape. Giving your skin what it needs internally will also show on the outside so drink lots of H20 upon rising. Whether you live in Canada, Brazil, Australia or anywhere in the world, we love receiving your photos showing how our products look on you. So we look forward to camera-happy grad!!!
